and driven to Nairobi
National Park (10
kms, 30 minutes)
Nairobi
National Park some
10 kms from the
Nairobi capital
centre was established
in 1946 and at of
114 sq. kms is the
smallest and oldest
of Kenya's Game
Parks. The park
lies between the
Nairobi-Mombasa
railway and the
Karen suburb and
consists of pristine
savannah inside
which are found
a large number of
wild game species.
Of the Big Five
i.e. elephant, leopard,
lion, buffalo and
rhino, only the
elephant is not
found in Nairobi
National Park. All
the other four can
e found in the park
together with a
wide variety of
other wild animals
and birds. A morning
or afternoon game
drive may be rewarded
with sightings of
lion, rhino, giraffe,
buffalo and if lucky,
even leopard.
Three
of the park’s sides
are fenced but its
south-eastern perimeter
is left open where
the Kitengela Conservation
Area provides a
corridor for the
natural migration
of the game to and
from the 320 sq
kms Ngong National
Reserve which takes
place with the seasonal
rains. Well-laid
out and with well
maintained roads,
the park is a model
for all others,
both geo-physically
and administratively.
Athi
River at the park's
far end forms a
natural demarcation
for the park, and
also provides walks
along a riverine
forest populated
with many species
of monkey and a
wide variety of
birds - and in the
river pool themselves
you may find hippopotamus
and an occasional
crocodile.
Enjoy
a half day game
viewing drive in
this unique park
on the periphery
of a major city
metropolis.
The
game viewing drive
will last for 2.5
hrs to 3.5 hrs.
You
will then be transferred
back and dropped
in the Nairobi City
Centre or your directly
booked hotel.
