Day
1 Transfer
from Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport
with White Water
rafting transport
(1 hrs) to the camp
on River Sagana
a day’s rafting
down River Sagana’s
many exciting rapids.
Some stretches are
quiet and are ideal
for relaxing, swimming
and enjoying the
flora and fauna.
Arrive back at camp
approx 3.30pm to
a late lunch. Afternoon
spent around the
pool, dinner and
overnight Sagana.
Mt
Kenya [5199m] is
the second highest
mountain in Africa
after Mt. Kilimanjaro
[5896m]. Snow on
the peaks in equatorial
Africa - the early
explorers could
not believe it.
For super fit mountain
bikers it is little
more exhilarating
than success in
conquering challenging
peaks anywhere in
the world and Kenya
is a must.
We
invite you to cross
this mountain on
a bicycle, we supply
logistical support
and you provide
the story!
Day
2 An
early departure
from Sagana with
lunch en-route,
our ride starts
from the junction
of Nanyuki-Meru
road following the
Sirimon trail, followed
thereafter by a
1-2hrs ride up to
Judmeir camp through
the podocurpus forest,
where you will encounter
a rich diversity
of flora and fauna
and the great views
of the Laikipia
Plateau.
Dinner/overnight
Judmeir Camp full
board [3350m].
Day
3 After
a hearty breakfast,
a 3-4 hrs ride up
to Liki north valley
with lunch at the
campsite situated
at 4150m, the dramatic
screeching of the
augur buzzards often
heard along and
across the valleys,
landscape of immense
attraction with
giant lobelias all
around and the towering
peaks ahead.
Dinner/overnight
Liki North camp
fullboard [3993m].
Day
4 After
breakfast together
with your bike and
entourage, travel
for at least 1 hour
over ridges where
you will encounter
spectacular views
of the Mackinders
Valley; the lobelia
telekii dominates
the vegetation and
then onto Shipton’s
caves [4450m] for
a break.
As
we continue our
ascent to Kami hut,
the landscape around
this altitude changes
dramatically to
rockier and steeper
terrain.
Dinner
/overnight Kami
Campsite [4657m.].
Day
5 This
is d-day; with a
very early start
up the northern
ridge to reach Point
Lenana [4985m] in
time to see the
sunrise from the
peaks. On a clear
day one is able
to see Mt. Kilimanjaro,
Africa’s highest
mountain. Thereafter
your descent takes
you to Mintos camp
where you will overnight
-arriving by midday
for lunch; afternoon
walk to Lake Michaelson
and the Temples,
returning back early
evening in time
for dinner.

Day
6 After
breakfast descend
down the Chogoria
Trail where you
encounter spectacular
views of the Vivien
Falls and adjoining
lake Elise at 3350
m; our ride takes
us to the Meru Mt.
Kenya Bandas with
lunch en-route;
enjoy a rich diversity
of vegetation en-route
before we arrive
at the Camp for
eagerly awaited
showers /dinner
/cold beers and
overnight-fullboard
at the Meru Mt.Kenya
Bandas [3017m].
Day
7 Our
ride takes us through
thick bamboo forest
on rough terrain
for about 32 km
to the main road
where you will meet
your vehicle for
your return journey
to Nairobi with
lunch en-route,
arriving Nairobi
midday.

***Traversing
Mt Kenya or any
mountain of this
altitude and terrain
on a mountain bike
is indeed only suitable
for the extremely
fit and experienced
cyclists. The organisers
will not allow anyone
not fitting this
category to participate
on this type of
adventure.
Days
8, 9 & 10 [3
nights] After
arriving in Nairobi,
transfer to Wilson
airport and join
your 1.5hr pm charter flight
to Tana Delta, from
where you will be
picked up from the
airstrip and taken to
the Camp. The camp
is set atop sand
dunes with great
views of the beach
extending north
to Lamu and the
ocean.
Enjoy
the many activities available
at the camp - nature
walks along the
beach and into the
hinterland; bay
and ocean swims;
sand yachting, fishing.
Overnight and full
board.
Getting
to the Tana Delta
Camp is an adventure
in itself from a
landing stage on
Tana River is a
boat transfer to
the Camp that is
spread across sand
dunes overlooking
the Indian Ocean.
8 arriving
early afternoon
thereafter viewing
the spectacular
and intriguing contrasts
of a far flung wilderness,
with a combination
of dune –top pagoda
sand luxury bush
tents relaxing beach
combing expedition
and thereafter back
to the camp for
evening dinner o/n
9
& 10 After
breakfast bird watching
boat trips up stream
or down the maze
of Delta channels,
surf the waves in
the morning and
thereafter stalk
buffalo in the afternoon,
go water ski and
fishing and nature
walks alternating
mornings and choice
of the order of
the indicated activities.

Tana Delta
11 plane
charter pickup afternoon
for your transfer
back to Nairobi
from where you will
be transferred to
JKA for your international
connecting flight.
